Dear Family and Friends,

Well, this week sounds like it was a good one for all of you. Getting all
the yards ready and then having a snow storm on may 27th will always make
you smile right? Also, it sounds like the obrays had quite the week with
jack as the big bad wolf and brady graduating from preschool, i bet that
was fun. And congrats to meg and tyler on the big number 7 sounds like mom
had a fun time with the grandkids this week, so that is good. Anyways, for
me this week was really good. We are still just in the middle of the
summer, getting our sweat on! so that is always a good time. It keeps
getting a little hotter and hotter, right when i get done with my
bucket shower i start sweating again, so its a good time! haha other
than that the DR is just the DR. We have been teaching magi and she is
reading everything that we leave her but she still feels like she
hasn´t recieved an answer about the church and the book of mormon and
everything. We tell her to keep reading and keep praying and she will
recieve her answer. And I know she will get it. Also, we havent been
able to find yessena this week because it was mothers day weekend this
week down here and she has been out to her little town that she is
from visiting her mom but she is still reading and progressing too. I
am still here with elder garcia and the spanish is definately
improving right now because i am speaking it 24/7. Transfer calls are
on sunday and i have been in this area for almost 5 months, so i could
be leaving here pretty easy next week but we will see what the Lord
wants me to do. Also, the other elders in my house had a baptism this
week and they baptized this 55 year old guy. He has been going to
church for almost 4 months straight without missing a week or a single
activity of the church, he is just a really good guy a little on the
slower side but a good guy. well when he went into the water for his
baptism he went in first and the bishop was following him. Right when
he got in the water he started bending his knees and was about to dunk
himself and the bishop said victor wait not yet. and i just started
laughing, then the bishop was explaining how he needs to plug his
nose, and victor starting plugging his nose before bishop said the
ordinance and bishop was trying to pull his hand off his nose but he
had a vice grip on there, in the end he took his vice grip off and got
baptized, it was pretty funny but it all worked out! Other than that
everything is going really good here, i hope everything is going good
for you all back home, I love you all and have a good week!

Temple Week

Dear Fam,

Well, it sounds like you guys have had quite the week this week with
everything warming up, and planting and doing all the gardens. Sounds
like it has been pretty busy, i am glad it is warming up there and you
guys are starting to feel a little sun. Well this week has been a
really good week for us. On tuesday we got to go to the temple, it was
my first time going through the temple here in the DR, so it was a
really cool experience. I am going to send some photos home but really
the temple is super cool and you can see the ocean from the temple so
it was a really neat experience. Also, everything here in enriquillo
is going really well we have set another baptismal date with this 35
year lady named Yesena we are trying to get the whole family involved
but we haven´t been able to share with her husband yet because he is
working all the time. But she is reading everything that we leave and
really has a desire to learn more about the gospel. The only thing
with her is that she is due to have her baby this week so she wont be
able to come to church for a while but we have gave her a book of
mormon and so hopefully when there is some off time she will continue
to read it. We also are teaching a girl named magi and she has been
coming to church and seminary and mutual, she has been coming to
everything and reading everything that we have left her. We found out
this week that she doesn´t know if she has recieved an answer about
what we are teaching her yet so we talked a lot about prayers and how
we can recieve answers to our prayers through the holy ghost, and we
gave her the challenge to keep praying and searching for the answer
and i am pretty sure that she will recieve an answer. Also this week
has been ellection week for their president, and today they come out
with the results, so there has been a lot of music and more partying
and drinking in the streets, but after today everything should be
chill again. Anyways, all and all everything is going really well
here, i hope everything is going well back home, love you all.

Dear Family and Friends,

Well it was great getting to talk to all of you yesterday! It sounds like everything is going good back at home and that you are all just kicking but back there still. Like you all know everything is going good here with me, we are still here in enriquillo and i got my new comp Elder Garcia and he is from here, the DR. We are getting things rolling here in the area now, after the week of not working we had a lot of people to go and look for. Well we have one investigator that has been going to church and going to seminary and mutal. Her sister was a missionary and now is sealed, so she has a lot of support from her sisters so we are working with her and i think she will probably be getting baptized in a couple months from now. We also have found two part member families, and we are hoping that both of them continue to read the book of mormon and pray so they can recieve an answer of the truth of the message. Everything is good back here at the ward and it really just feels good to be back working again. Also, we are hoping to move out of our house soon, today we had an activity with the zone and after i went and took a shower at the zone leaders house and they had a showerhead and it was an awesome shower. Its been a while since i had one of those so it was one of those tender mercies today haha. Well I hope everything is going good for you back there, I love you all, and have a good week!

Mom!

 

Well mom i am sorry for last week, during our last pday i had to take my comp to the hospital. Turned out he had the deng fever or dengue is spanish, and we have been in a clinic this whole last week. The doctor let us out right now for a little bit so we could write you guys but today my comp overcame the sickness and we are getting out of the clinic tomorrow! I wrote you guys some letters and you should be getting them some time soon but yeah this last week has been quite an ordeal, and we are both excited to get out of the clinic and return to the work. Everything is good now and all is good with me so dont worry about that mom. Well i dont have too many experiences to share this week, on sunday president and the office elders came and gave us the sacarament. And after we partook of the sacarament we had a fast and testimony. It was a super spiritual experience being there in a little room in the clinic and still feeling the spirit that comes from the sacarament. I shared a little bit from the talk by elder bednard about the atonement it is in the april liahona. I really liked the talk there is one part where he talks about how when nefi was bound by the cords he prayed to the lord and he didn´t pray to have the lord change his circumstances but he prayed to be stregthened by the lord to change his circumstances, and i really liked that. I would suggest reading that talk and maybe sharing something from that. Anyways mom i dont have a lot of time this week, i am only going to write this email but i am going to call when you guys get done with church then, so like 1 ish or something. in our mission there isn´t any rules of when to call or time limits so i will just call you after your church. Anyways mom I love you a lot and everything is going good with me here.
