Dear family,

Well it was an awesome week this week and a great way to finish out
the transfer. So this saturday Dayana got baptized. And she is
probably the strongest convert that i have had an opportunity to
teach. At her baptism we had two ladies bare there testimonies, the
first was a returned missionery that is married in the temple and she
gave an awesome testimony. And before going in to the baptism i
thought to myself about how i hadn´t seen anybody in the DR really
just start crying while giving their testimony, but then this lady
started to cry. After the baptism the bishop asked Dayana if she would
share her testimony and she gave such a solid testimony and started
crying during it and i looked around and everybody was getting a
little watery eyed. She talked about how great she feels coming to all
of the activities and coming to church and the spirit she feels with
everywhere. She talked about how she doesnt feel that at her house and
she also talked about how her parents or none of her family came to
her baptism,  but how she feels like she has a family within the ward.
Then the bishop got up and told her that her family is bigger now than
she could every imagine. It was a really spiritual baptism and she was
definately prepared by the Lord to recieve the gospel before we
starting teaching her. Even though i was mad at her family for not any
of them showing up to support the girl, it all turned out really well.
I am trying to send pictures of it but this computer isn´t working
really well, so we will see if they will send. Also, we found a family
that we are starting to work with. The lady has recieved lessons from
the missionaries before and her husband is an inactive member and they
have two daughters. Well we went to teach them and she is super
interested in everything that we were talking about and her husband
was a big help to us. Everyone time she had a doubt about what we were
talking about, he would explain it more simply and she would
understand. They are super cool and we are praying really hard for
them because we know what kind of the difference the gospel can make
in their lives and in their family. So yeah this week has been a great
week. Well i am glad that Bradon got to see his baby girl get born and
tell him congrats! also the yard is looking really good at tyler and
meagens (sorry if i spelt that wrong meg, i had my comp write your
name and he is a little slow HA) Also i hope the trip down to st.
george was fun and that you all have a good week this week, i love you
all

Dear fam,

Well it sounds like this week has been quite the week for you all back home, i saw all the pictures from st. george and easter and it is crazy to see how big the kids are getting these days. It is also good to here about meg and tyler putting in the new yard and dad out on the tractor getting it ready. That is crazy that you guys still got another snow storm but all and all it sounds like this winter has been pretty weak. Well, this has been an awesome week for us. On wednesday we had a miracle happen. So every couple wednesdays we have an intercambio, so my comp went to a different area and then a different elder came and went with me on wednesday. so we left the house after lunch and we went to go find our first appointments we had 3 set appointments and we went over to there house and every single appointment failed us. So i thought, well this is going to be quite the day. And i say to the other elder lets go contact (knock doors). Now, there was two ways that we could go to get to where we needed to contact. And for some reason i felt that we should go this one way that we usually didn´t go. So we started walking and then we got to the street that we wanted to contact and usually we would walk to the bottom of the street and work our way up back to the top. But for some reason on the way walking down the street i said why don´t we just start here. So we stopped at this house and we said buenas, which is short for good afternoon, and there was a lady inside talking on the phone she motioned for us to come in, so we went in. she gave the phone to my comp and said talk to my sister she is a mormon. I guess at that same time that we knocked the door her sister was on the phone and told her that she need to find the missionaries and ask them for a book of mormon. So we sat down and the lady said, what a coincidence that right when my sister said that i needed to find the missionaries, you two knocked on my door. And i said i dont think it was a coincidence i think it was God leading us to you. and she said yeah i think so too. Then she asked us for a book of mormon and me and my comp bore our testimonies of the book of mormon and then gave it to her. We set an appointment with her for this coming wednesday, and were planning to just go back to her house on wednesday. But on thursday the day after all this happened we passed by her house and she was reading the book of mormon when we knocked on her door. She had read all the introductions, testimonies and was on chapter 3 in nefi. She was really enjoying it when we asked her about how the reading was going, and she said that she was going to keep on reading. So we will see on wednesday how far she has gotten. But it was quite the miracle that heavenly father led us to this lady that was ready to recieve the gospel in her life, we were pretty grateful for it. So that was something really cool that happened this week also Dayana is getting baptized on saturday so we are pretty stoked for that. We have taught her everything and she hasn´t had a doubt about anything, she also has been going to seminary at 6 in the morning every morning for more than 2 months and church for almost 3. She is super excited for her baptism and so that is something cool coming up. The Lord has also led us to a couple more cool people in this last week so it really has been just a solid week. Other than that everything is going really good, and stuff is just rolling here in the ward. So i really hope i stay here another transfer but we will see next week. Well anyways, i hope everything is going good with all of you back home. One of the elders that i live with just got an email saying that his whole family is going to the jazz and san antonio game tonight and that it is pretty critical for jazz to win, so i am hoping the boys can get it done. Anyways, i love you all and have a good week this week.

Semana Santa

Querida familia mia,

Hey whats up guys? So I heard that you all went down to the yellow house for the easter holiday, I hope you guys had some good four wheeler rides, and bike rides and some good games of basketball and i heard that you guys are going to beat me after the mission, i guess we will just have to see about that haha. I also hope you guys had a lot of candy and some sweet easter egg hunts too. It is always a good time going down to the yellow house. Well they celebrate easter a little bit different here they call it "semana santa", or "holy week." This whole week everybody has been on vacation from work and school. On friday the whole country shut down, there wasnt a stinking open store anywhere and everybody left to the beach, and the people that didnt go out to the beach filled up big old plastic pools in the middles of the street and sat in them while drinking their acohol. Also while we were studying in the morning on friday we heard all these people singing and it was getting louder and louder. It was a huge catholic parade there was one person dragging a big wooden cross and then tons and tons of people following and singing. They were celebrating the death of Jesus Christ, they celebrate the death a whole lot more than the resurection. But it was crazy we couldnt do any missionary work because either people werent at there houses or they were having big old parties, so yeah that was friday and saturday was almost the same as friday and then yesterday we finally got to get some work done, so that always feels good. Well Dayana missed church on sunday because on sunday morning her grandma came to her house and said Dayana we are going to go to the country and Dayana said grandma I am going to church, and her grandma said come on lets go to the country and she went. So we have to postpone Dayanas baptism for the 21 of april and Dayana was bummed she said next time someone comes to my house on sunday morning, I am going to say no I am going to church. She is super prepared and hasnt had a problem with a single commandment or anything so we are really excited for her and she is really excited too. Also, Chelo went out to the Country to work in the bean feilds for this last week and the week that is coming, so we are just waiting til he gets back to contiue teaching him. We have found a couple more really cool people in this last week and we are still just working away here in Enrriquillo. Well in the middle of writing this letter the internet center´s power just went away so we had to walk to a different internet center and thanks to myldsmail my letter was saved on autosave, so i recieved a tender mercy haha. Anyways everything is going good here I hope everything is going good for you all back home I love you all, and have a good week.

Dear Family,

Well it sounds like you all had a pretty good week this week, looks like spring is coming to the valley and that grass plus is getting work done already. Well as it warms up there it continues to warm up here too. I am glad to hear that a couple of my letters made it home after all of this time. It also sounds like you guys had a good conference weekend, I had a pretty good one too. Well this conference I got to listen to it in english. Right now we are living with 4 american missionaries and so they set a room of enlgish up for us! We listened to conference in the bishop´s office, where is the only place in the whole chapel that has air conditioning. So we got to sit in the air conditioned room and listen to conference in english, lets just say we were blessed haha. Anyways, conference was awesome this year, they really hit on the family and the importance of the family. Especially, Elder Ballard´s talk when he pulled out all of those statitics and how they talked about how important the family really is in all realms of life. I also really liked all the talks inviting everybody everywhere no matter what part of life that they are in to come back to Christ and accept his as their savior and how he is always willing and ready to take us back into the fold. Conference was really cool, im excited to get the ensign on it. Also this week the other guys bought me a pizza and breadsticks from pizza hut for my 8 month mark completion. I sent the pictures home to mom. Pizza hut might not sound like much to you all back there in the US but here in the DR pizza hut is basically as good as pizza is going to get and only the rich people go to pizza hut. So it was really awesome and the pizza was the BOMB!

Also, let me explain our water situation. So still every tuesday and saturday water comes and we have a pump that pumps water up to our house when there is power. and then we have 4 big buckets/ little tanks that we fill up and that is our water until water comes on tuesday or saturday. Well on saturday our pump broke so we spent about 3 hours satuday morning filling up little buckets from up the street and carrying them down to our house to fill up our 4 big buckets.. it was quite the process but we are getting someone to fix our pump now so don´t worry too much about us here haha. Anyways everything else is going really good here we are starting to find some new people to teach and Dayana and Chelo are still just progressing right along and are really excited about the gospel. Well I hope everything is going well with all of you and that you guys are getting the house all ready for spring and that it is warming up a little bit for you all. Everthing is going good here I love you all and i hope you have a good week!
